How God Sees You

Julie is a beautiful girl who had low self-esteem. Every day she would watch music videos and look at magazines and desired to look like these women. It started with Julie coloring her hair and then adding extensions so she could look like her favorite celebrities. Then she decided to have multiple surgeries on her body to change herself image. After everything Julie did to herself to enhance her outward beauty, she still had low self-esteem. She failed to realize her self-worth and her value as a woman. She took for granted the degrees and certificates she had obtained. Due to Julie’s self-esteem issues she made some bad decisions in life and one day she decided enough was enough. She decided to go to therapy and her counselor was a devoted woman of God. She got to the root of Julie’s self-esteem issues. This counselor told Julie her story and it was quite similar. The counselor told Julie that God helped her years ago with her self-worth and self-image, that’s why she decided to become a counselor to help young women. Julie developed a relationship with God and learned that her identity comes from Christ. Julie is now happy the way God made her and no longer tries to augment her appearance.

Are you struggling today with self-esteem issues and fail to realize your self-worth? If you are, just know that there is a God who loves you and sees you as something valuable. God is love and he created you in his image. In other words, he made you like himself. Ephesians 1:4-5 says, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.” 1 Samuel 16:7 says, “But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

You were created for a purpose and God takes delight in his children. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” Just keep what God says about you in his word in your mind. God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours and you can come as yourself in God’s presence. Aren’t you glad that God looks at your heart and having the best clothes or beauty doesn’t matter?

Let’s pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you that you don’t see me as the world sees me. I am so thankful that you love me so much that you sent Jesus to die on the cross. Sometimes Lord, I feel inadequate or not good enough. But I know this is not true because you created me for a purpose and made me joint heirs with Jesus Christ. Lord your word says in John 15:15 that I am your friend. Colossians 3:12 says I am your chosen people, holy and dearly loved. Matthew 5:13-14 says that I am the salt of the earth and light of the world.

Lord, I pray that your holy spirit can give me revelation in your word on what you think about me. Let me see myself Lord how you see me. Bless me not to be conformed to this world but transformed by renewing my mind. Philippians 3:20 says my citizenship is in heaven so I am just passing through. Lord bless me to realize that no matter the circumstances, I will not lose sight of how you see me because I am truly precious in your sight. In Jesus name Amen. © Kimberly Hargraves Ministries.
