Pressing Forward

Julie was in the middle of a life storm. She had experienced recurrent episodes of loss. She did not understand what she did to deserve the affliction she was facing. She had a relationship with God and every time she sought him, he would tell her that everything was going to be alright and to trust him. It all started with her losing her job. Her bills began to pile up and she did not know how she was going to survive. Next she had to drop out of school because she was unable to afford tuition; soon after her boyfriend dumped her. Then she became sick and became hospitalized with leukemia. Julie was fighting for her life and a pastor came and prayed over her.Julie prepared for death. Suddenly she took a turn for the better a few days later: Her leukemia went into remission, she received a full scholarship for school, weeks later she got her old job back with a promotion, and she met her school mate. Julie’s faith was tested time after time and she wanted to give up. God is faithful and was with Julie during her various trials and strengthen Julie during her storm so she could keep pressing on.

Have you experience back to back episodes of trials and tribulations? As a child of the Most High God we have the ability to overcome. When we get knocked down, we can get back up and keep pressing forward because we know that we have victory in God. There is a blessing at the end of the storm if you don’t give up. Philippians 3:14 says, “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” The enemy will try his best to overwhelm you with problems but we have to remember God’s promises. Remember God is in control and he will not put more on you than you can bare. When the enemy comes in like a flood, God will lift up a standard against him. You have the choice to keep fighting or to give up and let the enemy win. God allowed the devil to cause tribulation in Job’s life but Job keep pressing forward. Job received a double portion for his troubles and his latter days were better than his former days. You too at the end of your tribulation will have a double blessing and a testimony.

Let’s pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, It seems like I am under attack and my life is falling apart. As you child, I know I can come boldly to your throne, cry out to you and you will hear me if I ask anything according to your will. Lord, I know you are here with me and will protect me through it all. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 says, “But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.” I will overcome this tribulation because Romans 8:37 says “Amid all these things, I am more than a conqueror and gain a surpassing victory through him who loves me.” 2 Samuel 8:6 says, “I have victory wherever I go.”

1 Timothy 6:12 says I will fight the fight of faith, so I refuse to give up. This is not my battle to fight but the Lord’s. Luke 10:19 says that you have given me the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy, nothing will harm me. I declare that I shall not fear because Jesus has overcome have the world. I will not grow weary and lose heart. I decree that great things are coming my way. I declare that blesses are coming my way and no devil in hell will be able to steal what belongs to me. In Jesus mighty name Amen.
